Background of Department

  • Establishment in 1971 under the supervision of Director Education (Schools) as an Extension Center.
  • Present status established in 1976 under Administrative order in the light of Federal Act of National Bureau of Curriculum (Ministry of Education).
  • BoC & EC functions under the administrative supervision of the Secretary, Government of Balochistan, and Secondary Education Department.
  • Comprises three service cadres:
  • 1.Bureau Cadre (50%)
  • 2.College Cadre (25%)
  • 3.School Cadre (25%)

Mandate and Object of Department

    Mandate:

  • Bureau is the primary custodian of standards, sister organizations must develop its processes reaching the standards notified by Bureau
  • Bureau has upper role to audit the output standards
  • Curriculum development/review is the mandate the Bureau
  • Prepare and monitor curriculum implementation framework (CIF) is the basic tasks of BOC & EC

At the back drop of 18th Amendment in the constitution of Pakistan to devolve the education to provinces and with introduction of Article 25 A, it necessitated to review and revisit the approaches for the promotion of quality education. Bureau of Curriculum and Extension Centre Balochistan being an organ of education department government of Balochistan has a pivotal role in enhancing the quality of education

BOC & EC foresee as a centre of quality of control through development of research based output standards and curriculum review with the collaboration of sister organizations that produce quality, innovative and skilled human resources to meet the local and global market needs.

As this directorate has already contributed in developing a guiding document in the form of “Balochistan Education Sector Plan” with all other thematic groups, it is too being ensured that same contribution will continue with all stakeholders to ensure provision of quality education at each level.
